Even then many of them are barely detectable because they have so few stars. In visible light this would be a dark, opaque feature, hiding the reservoir of material from which stars have recently formed and will continue to form in the future. The Mars One colony project is looking to send private citizens on a one-way trip to the red planet. One is to look out as far as we can to see all the galaxies we can, and then add up all the galaxies we can see in a given volume of space.
